An inspirational Bible verse about faith and God’s infinite love for us

Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us

Ephesians 3: 20

This is a most inspirational Bible verse found in the New Testament. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is one of most exciting letters. Paul speaks very powerfully about what Christ’s resurrection means and its effect upon believers then and today.

It is worth reading Ephesians regularly – faith will always arise in your heart and doubts about God’s transforming ability and great love will flee.

There are two portions in Ephesians were Paul prays for the Ephesians or you could say Christian believers living in Ephesus. It has been said, and testified by great men of God that if you prayed these portions for yourself every day, you would grow mightily in your faith and revelation knowledge of God. (I particularly recommend reading this in the Amplified Bible version which is free to read online.)

Firstly Ephesians 1:17 – 20 and Ephesians 3: 14-21 as follows:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. (Ephesians 1:17-20 (WEB))

And

For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (WEB)

Our Bible verse for today is rather the climax to Paul’s prayers and these faith-building scriptures. This is what it says in the Amplified version.

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do super-abundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:14-21 (AMP)

The power that works in us is the Holy Spirit who strengthens, councils, comforts and guides us into all truth. What an amazing encouragement from the Bible when we may feel powerless or even lacking direction not knowing what God plans for us.

Prayer

The prayer for today is Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians from above.

Dear Father of glory, of our Lord Jesus Christ may you give to me a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you; having the eyes of my heart enlightened, that I may know what is the hope of my calling, and what are the riches of the glory of my inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of you power toward me who believes, according to that working of the strength of you might which you worked in Christ, when you raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at you right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come.

And

For this cause, I bow my knees to you Father of our Lord Jesus Christ from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that you would grant me according to the riches of you glory, that I may be strengthened with power through your Spirit in my inward man; that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith; to the end that I being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that I may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
