These encouraging Bible verses are scriptures of comfort and freedom from fear of death
For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8: 38
Encouraging Bible verses are to be found in Romans 8. It is possibly the most important and well-known chapter in Paul’s letter to the Romans. It is a chapter where all members of the trinity are mentioned – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This chapter in the book of Romans starts with the triumphant verse
‘therefore there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus’
In the Amplified version is says ‘no condemnation – no adjudging guilty of wrong for those who are in Christ Jesus. This alone is a Bible verse of faith for those struggling with the erroneous fear that they are unworthy in God’s sight and that they must earn acceptability by dead works. The last two verses of powerful Romans 8 is the verse for today. They are verses about God’s unwavering acceptance of us in the face of any accusation or foe.
Romans 8 speaks about salvation and freedom from sin through Christ. It speaks about how the Father has adopted us as His children and we can now call him ‘Abba’ or in English speech ‘Daddy’ (Romans 8:15). How amazing is that! This mind-blowing verse is saying that Jesus’ work on the cross has so freed us from our former spiritual state that we can approach God as easily and freely as a child approaches his Daddy. Such a thought-provoking truth would heal many a broken heart from poor earthy fathers if such a reality was realised. How many prisons would be empty if hardened criminals had learned that the Father in Heaven would happily adopt them and restore their broken hearts who never knew a loving earthly father?
Later in Romans chapter 8 the question is asked, who or what can separate us from the love of Christ? These Bible verses of love are saying how laughable is the idea that anything could ever separate us from the Father’s love – that there is no foe, devil or voice that could turn God against us.
If you are a parent yourself, you may have said to your children, ‘there is nothing you can do that will ever make me love you less’. In other words you are saying that you may make mistakes, you may do something absolutely appalling but the truth remains that as their parent, you will never fail to love them just the same whatever happens. In essence this is what these verses are saying.
Whatever we have done wrong or even whenever we may fail in the future we are beloved children of God and nothing can remove us from His safety in protection for all eternity.
However, as mentioned in Romans 10: 9-10
If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10: 9-10
By receiving Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are immediately free from condemnation and guilt and nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Dear Father in Heaven, I know that I am a sinner and have failed on countless occasions. I know that I will fail again and I so need your mercy and grace to help me. Right now, I relinquish my proud hold over ‘my’ problems and sins and wilfully and gladly accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I know He was raised from the dead and stands at your right hand on my behalf. Thank you that now today, nothing will ever separate me from your love and I am eternally your child. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
