But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5
This Bible verse of the day is an inspirational quote about wisdom that is great to memorise.
This is a scripture of great encouragement whenever we are at a loss to know what to do about anything. Do you need help in running your business? Do you need help in parenting your children? Do you need help to deal with a particularly difficult work colleague? Maybe you and your spouse are not getting on. This scripture from the letter of James will help you.
This promise from the Word of God is that God will generously give us wisdom whenever we ask. What is wisdom? I believe that it is an inspired insight from God for a particular situation.
These Bible verses on wisdom is particularly rich in detail from the Amplified Bible:
5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.6 But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 (Amplified)
It’s important not to be double-minded but clear in what you are asking for in faith and expectancy knowing that God will supply all the help and insight you ask.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace. Galatians 5:22
The verse of the day is a scripture about the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5: 22-23 are also wonderful bible verses about friendship.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness .. Galatians 5:22
Here the Apostle Paul is writing to the Christian believers at Galatia encouraging them to not be trapped into thinking that God requires religious rituals to be accepted by Him. He says that they are now under grace and not under law.
Paul begins to explain how Christians should now live and conduct themselves.
Firstly Paul says this:
For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Paul later explains what sort of behaviour is not loving. He also lists behaviour that prevents the inheritance of the kingdom of God. Paul also says that we can only live free of such fleshly inclinations if we allow the Holy Spirit to help us. These are encouraging words to all believers in Christ. Paul then lists “fruits’ of allowing Him to help us when we are weak in the flesh and enables us to love our neighbours. These fruits also help us to have rich friendships full of love, kindness, joy, peacefulness, goodness, long-suffering and faithfulness.

Inspirational Bible verse -the word of God is living and active. Hebrews 4:12
This verse of the day is an inspirational Bible verse on wisdom. It is also an encouraging Bible verse about faith and answered prayer.
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
This scripture is particularly beautiful in the Amplified Bible which brings out the full, rich meaning.
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 Amplified
There is also reference to the sword of the spirit in Ephesians 6:
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints (Ephesians 6: 17-18)
There is nothing like the Bible that can have such a profound effect upon a person’s heart and life. These wonderful scriptures found in the Bible are God’s delivery system whereby we learn about God and know God. The Holy Spirit makes these verses come alive in our hearts.
We need to feast on the Word of God to change dark areas in our hearts and lives but also we need knowledge of God’s word to pray effective prayers when we are assaulted by our enemy, the devil. The two-edged sword is the answer for all circumstances. Jesus used the very same weapon against the devil declaring ‘it is written’ during their confrontation in the wilderness.
When the word of God is spoken out loud it is like a two-edged sword. Firstly; one side of the sword, this have been spoken by God and secondly, the other side of the sword, when spoken by a believer. This is why scriptural based prayer is so important. By actually speaking Bible verses they have already been spoken by God.
Whenever you need prayer for a particular situation firstly find a Bible verse that covers your situation and secondly pray that scripture into your situation. God guarantees that if you pray the Word of God in faith, your prayer will be answered.
During your Bible study of these verses it is worth discovering two important Greek words used in the New Testament. The word ‘word’, is either logos or rhema. Logos means written word. Many of our English words are derived from ancient Greek. When you see words ending with ‘ology’ for example you know that it is derived from logos particularly academic studies that require reading the written word on a subject.
The word ‘rhema’ has a special meaning. It means the inspired word of God given in unique circumstances. Of course all of the Bible is inspired by God but a rhema word is a regular logos word from the Bible but with an extra Holy Spirit dynamo attached when given to a believer for a particular circumstance. This is the sword of the spirit, the two-edged sword. When Jesus said to the devil, ‘man shall not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds from God’ He was using a scripture as a rhema word to counter a temptation from the devil to turn a stone into bread when Jesus was hungry.
Many times in my own life I will find that a scripture that I know well and have somewhat taken for granted suddenly becomes enlivened and powerful in a unique or particular situation. Then, the Holy Spirit has given me a rhema word to help me – generally that rhema word becomes a sword of the spirit for prayer or declaration.
