God’s creative power and God’s pre-eminence. John 1:3-4

Nature picture of butterflies and mice. God's creative power and pre-eminence John 1:3-4
Share

The Bible verse of the day is an inspirational Bible verse of faith.

All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. John 1:3-4

This Bible verse is found in John’s Gospel. It comes after:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

These scripture verses speak of God’s creative power and His preeminence and preexistence before our known Universe.

Whatever you may believe about the formation of the Universe and how it was made, the Bible says that God was before all things, even before the earth was made. I believe there is something significant about the word light in this context too.

In Genesis 1 it says:

God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.  God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day. (Genesis 1:3-5)

The fascinating thing about this well-know Bible scripture about creation is that God created light before He created the sun, moon and stars. Is this initial light at creations something different from the usual light of our known physical Universe?! Could this light me the glory of God? It is something I have thought about. I really do not have the answer but I am sure that the answer is something glorious and wonderful – perhaps it is the fabric of Heaven? I will leave that to the experts to ‘enlighten’ us (no pun intended!).

Where is says, In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (John 1:3), I wonder if this is the same light as described in Genesis – the light that initiated the creation of the Universe and Earth.

I know the plans I have for you… Jeremiah 29:11

Scripture on encouragement. Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

This Bible verse today is a scripture on encouragement and hope.

Sometimes, it is easy to think that God has forgotten us when our lives are not how we would like them to be.  If life seems mundane and full of worries sometimes we can wonder what God has planned for us.  However, as you go about your daily lives you never know what impact a few words you may say could have upon another’s life.  Just be diligent to do good whenever you have an opportunity however small and entrust your day to Him. We need to be faithful with the small things before God can trust us with large responsibilities.  Never give up believing that God is a good God and His ways are perfect.  Follow Him, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.  They will certainly be plans for welfare, not for evil to give you a future and hope.  Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow but trust in Him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God … James 1:5

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproaching, and it will be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5

This Bible verse of the day is an inspirational quote about wisdom that is great to memorise.

This is a scripture of great encouragement whenever we are at a loss to know what to do about anything. Do you need help in running your business?  Do you need help in parenting your children?  Do you need help to deal with a particularly difficult work colleague?  Maybe you and your spouse are not getting on.  This scripture from the letter of James will help you.

This promise from the Word of God is that God will generously give us wisdom whenever we ask. What is wisdom?  I believe that it is an inspired insight from God for a particular situation.

These Bible verses on wisdom is particularly rich in detail from the Amplified Bible:

If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 (Amplified)

It’s important not to be double-minded but clear in what you are asking for in faith and expectancy knowing that God will supply all the help and insight you ask.

Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8

Love never fails – a scripture on love.  I Corinthians 13:8

The Bible verse of the day is a scripture on love.

So simple but true – love never fails. When we have the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit we are able to love the unlovable. Some people cannot love us back for whatever reason but through God’s grace we can love those that need a touch from God through us.

I must admit that some people behave in such a foul and vile manner that they are just unlovable in the natural. Yet God loves them. He knows how they may be hurting inside. He knows their sinful nature that is born in all of us. “There by the grace of God goes I” is a true saying and one worth remembering.

Love never fails. It’s worth repeating often. Prior to this Bible verse the Apostle Paul says:

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
1 Corinthians 13:7 Amplified Version.

God is love. As you mull over Bible verses on love think of anyone that may have hurt you and pray for them. As hard as it may be for you to do you will find that a great release in your heart occurs. Love never fails. Also think of those who need love and pray for them that they would know the love of God that passes all understanding. Have faith that love never fails.

Sometimes in life you may never know this side of eternity what impact you have had on somebody by showing love to someone who hates you back. Only God knows. Never give up believing in the best of somebody. You may find them greet you in Heaven!

A Bible verse on healing. James 5:15

And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:15

A Bible verse on healing.  James 5:15

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15

The Bible verse of the day is a scripture on healing. It is also a Bible verse on faith and grace.
There are Christian believers who have taken this scripture by faith and have seen the healing of physical diseases and sicknesses for their loved ones even those on their death beds.
Smith Wigglesworth was a Victorian  preacher, born in 1859.  He was from Yorkshire, England and a plumber by trade before embarking on a full-time preaching and healing ministry. He was unschooled and when he did eventually learn to read, he only read the Bible. So powerfully was he used by God that nine people were raised from the dead under his ministry. These are apparently documented cases.
On one occasion the following account of healing was documented where a young man was bed-bound and close to death:
How marvelous would it be for these days of faith and miracles to be restored in this generation.  It is completely God’s will to pray for the sick and they would recover.  Here’s a website where healings today are being documented:
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16: 17-18 NKJV)
Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
(Luke 18:8)

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace … Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.  Galatians 5:22

The verse of the day is a scripture about the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5: 22-23 are also wonderful bible verses about friendship.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness .. Galatians 5:22

Here the Apostle Paul is writing to the Christian believers at Galatia encouraging them to not be trapped into thinking that God requires religious rituals to be accepted by Him. He says that they are now under grace and not under law.

Paul begins to explain how Christians should now live and conduct themselves.

Firstly Paul says this:

For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:13-14

Paul later explains what sort of behaviour is not loving. He also lists behaviour that prevents the inheritance of the kingdom of God.  Paul also says that we can only live free of such fleshly inclinations if we allow the Holy Spirit to help us. These are encouraging words to all believers in Christ.  Paul then lists “fruits’ of allowing Him to help us when we are weak in the flesh and enables us to love our neighbours. These fruits also help us to have rich friendships full of love, kindness, joy, peacefulness, goodness, long-suffering and faithfulness.

By whose stripes you were healed … 1 Peter 2:24

who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2: 24

A Bible verse on healing for today

Who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

The Bible verse of the day is a scripture on healing. It is also a Bible verse on peace and grace.

There are Christian believers who have taken this scripture by faith and have been healed of physical diseases and sicknesses. By believing and praying in faith that this scripture would be a reality in their lives healing had manifested in their bodies. Other Christians have taken communion affectionately remembering the Lord’s body that was broken for us. Others have had the elders of their church anoint them with oil. Other believers have hands laid upon them.

There is a Bible verse in the book of Isaiah, an Old Testament prophet that says:

Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5

Jesus fulfilled this prophecy and the meaning is clear.

There is a scene from the excellent film The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson where Jesus is viciously whipped by two Roman soldiers. They used the terrible cat o’ nine tails where pieces of bone and sharp metal is placed in the whip’s many thongs rather like nine cat claws. As they hit their victim in tandem, there is no chance for recovery between each stroke. Flesh is ripped off the body exposing bone and shedding much blood.

Jesus bore this terrible punishment for us so we wouldn’t be punished in our body. Even our sicknesses are healed. Each lash of that vile whip meant each one of us who believes on Jesus can be healed in their body  The crown of thorns that was placed on Jesus head by the soldiers meant healing for our minds. What a wonderful saviour we have in Jesus!

Sometimes we punish ourselves because we feel guilty and condemned by our weak and sinful behaviour. This may manifest as overeating, over use of alcohol or other self-destructive, self-punishing  behaviour.

Always remember that Jesus suffered that terrible torture from the Romans for you, so your body and mind could be made well and whole. Later Jesus shed His blood on the cross ransomed your very soul from the devil so you may have eternal life with the Father.

If you do not know Jesus as your Lord of Saviour, please pray this simple prayer:

Dear God,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Saviour of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
